Gardens are a great way to create a private space all your own to enjoy. People spend a lot of time nurturing their garden, and find great satisfaction in it. Turning your garden into an outdoor living space takes the personality of your garden even further.
Adding a garden fountain is an easy way to improve your outdoor space without having to add a lot of time to your outdoor maintenance routine. Fountains come in almost any shape, size, material, or theme you can think of, so if there is something you have in mind that would really compliment your garden, you can probably find something at least similar to your vision.
No matter what size your garden is, you can find a fountain to fit. Large gardens can accommodate elaborate stand-alone fountains, along with just about any other kind of garden fountain you could want. If you just have a small garden, there are small fountains you can get that can be tucked away into many spaces. Fountains that sit in corners are popular if you don't have a whole lot of room. Wall-mounted fountains are also a great choice for small gardens. These don't take up any precious ground space, but still allow you to enjoy the benefits of a garden fountain.
If you have a specific look or theme you are pursuing in your garden, it shouldn't be difficult to find a garden fountain to match. There are many different materials that are used for fountains, including stone, wood, and glass. The most common fountain material is probably fiberglass though, because it is durable, cheap, and can be cast into any shape under the sun. Also, it can be made to look like stone, but is very light compared to real stone. A fountain that would cost thousands of dollars if made of stone and require a professional crew to install only costs a few hundred if made of fiberglass, can be taken home in the back of a truck, and installed by a couple people.
For a very impressive effect, real stone fountains can be bought. Keep in mind that these are expensive, and once installed will be very difficult to move. But nothing looks as good as real stone, so if you really want the full effect of a stone fountain, there is no substitute.
Fiberglass fountains can be heavy, but they are not impossible to move, so if you get a fountain and later decide you want it somewhere else, this can be achieved. Fiberglass doesn't look quite as good as some other materials, but if the fountain isn't the centerpiece of the garden, this may not matter.
Because there have been so many innovations in wood treatment and preservation, wood has become a popular option for garden fountains over the last few years. These wood fountains often add a rustic touch to your garden, or it can add a sense of warmth and hominess. If you're seeking a modern look, there are interesting glass fountains available. These usually have a sheet of glass in a wood or metal frame, and water cascades over the glass. Often the glass has a design or pattern on it, and sometimes these fountains come with colored lights.
Metal is another option for garden fountains, and it can create a lot of different looks. Classic and modern looks can both be achieved with metal, and many sculptures are made with it as well.
Getting a garden fountain is a wonderful way to set off the personality of your outdoor space, and add a sense of relaxation to the air. Gathering by the fountain and enjoying the company of friends and family is an experience almost anyone can enjoy.

Outdoor Garden Fountains - Help Your Relax
By Wyatt Frisk
You are likely already quite familiar with the form of outdoor garden fountains. You know that they are usually unique, often beautiful, and always desirable works of art. But you may not be familiar with the function of such garden fountains. Aside from their visual appeal, these features also provide a selection of critical health benefits for you and your guests.
The quick answer is "yes," and here are multiple reasons. For 1, the cascading water of the waterfall rupture the bonds that glue the water molecules together. This process releases negative ions into the atmosphere. Negative ions stick to positively charged particles, such as dirt and dust particles, allergens, pollen, bioaerosols, and a multitude of other airborne pollutants, toxins, and germs. When negative-ions stick/bond to these hard particles, they neutralize one another. This helps clean the air, so you can now breathe easier and prevent the start of respiratory problems. Also an accumulation of negative-ions in the air will reduce asthma, and has also been linked to an enhanced overall body wellness. Much of your well being depends on how clean the air is your breathing.
An additional health benefit of installing a outdoor fountain is it will enhanced the focus and concentration, when can lead to mental soundness and a greater peace of mind. A garden water fountain accomplishes this through making what is called "white noise," a multi-frequency sound wave that can help drown out other sounds you do not want to hear, such as: (neighbors, tv in the next room, dogs barking, and or a baby crying). The first benefit of this, is greatly improved and deeper relaxation. Now with no loud noise you can rest peacefully, listening instead to the relaxing sounds of smooth flowing water. A benefit of such restfulness, is the accumulation of serotonin in your cranium. Serotonin, is a neurotransmitter that specializes in brightening you mood: as you hear your fountain, you may feel yourself becoming more relaxed as you are lulled into a mental state of deep relaxation.
After installing your new outdoor fountain, and seeing all of these new health benefits for yourself, you will want to keep your waterfall running problem free for many years to come.
Fortunately, garden waterfalls are not to much work to try and maintain. Your cleaning method will depend on the material your new water fountain is composed of. For all fountain types, however, make sure your garden fountain rests on a flat, level surface for an even water flow and distribution. Also, make sure your fountain uses distilled water, as tap water and ground water can clog the pump or increase mineral buildup. For stone and ceramic fountains, try using a Calcium Lime Remover to get rid of mineral buildup. To treat algae, be sure to use an animal-safe solution, as birds will likely use your water feature as a watering hole. Your water fountain should be taken apart and cleaned carefully every four to six months. See? It's pretty easy.
Doing work for FountainCrafters.com has been easy since I love outdoor garden fountains it is nice to also see something similar like a stainless steel wall fountain inside a persons home or office.

Outdoor Fountains Enhance Your Garden
By Sarah Martin
With the numerous styles and sizes of outdoor fountains that are available, you will not have any difficulty finding one to suit the size of your garden. The sight and sound or falling water is very soothing and enhance the ambiance of the garden. If you have a large backyard area, you might want to look at the free standing fountains. There are also styles that attach to a wall and smaller models that will fit quite well on your patio.
Depending on the theme you want to create, you can actually make your own outdoor wall fountains using natural materials. You may want to make the fountain into a space where birds will come to have a drink.
You may want to recreate an old-fashioned scene in your garden, in which case a barrel trough made with an old-fashioned pump and a cast off whiskey barrel will create the look of a country garden in your backyard. By using two or three of these barrels, you can actually create a small waterfall in which water trickles from one level to the next.
Some of the wall mounted water fountains can be attached to an existing pond on your property so that you don't have to disturb any or your water pipes or tear up any landscaping to complete the installation.
You can tuck the fountain into a bed of flowers or arrange the flowers around the outskirts of the fountain and install a bench where you can sit and enjoy your scenic surroundings in peace and quiet. A tabletop fountain is perhaps one of the easiest fountains to set up and will stand for many years on a table on your patio or porch.
Outdoor fountains must be made of durable material in order to withstand the outdoor environment. Most are made from precast concrete, but if you really want to have a natural look check out the fountains made from reconstituted stone.
To avoid having the fountain look out of place try to replicate the natural stone of your region as closely as possible. If you want to further enhance the fountain by adding fish, you should stay away from old world wall fountains that contain lead because this is hazardous for fish.
There are many retailers, online and off, that sell outdoor fountains in many different varieties. If you visit your local garden center, you should know that it is impossible for one location to stock every kind of fountain. If there is nothing there that catches your eye, ask whether or not the store has a catalog from which you can order or a website where you can browse the many styles and place your order online.
Freestanding outdoor fountains are usually the focal point of a garden and should be placed where they can be easily seen. Such a fountain requires a submersible pump in the pedestal portion and you need to be able to get at it easily to clean it from time to time.
During the fall, you should drain all the water from the fountain and the pump and remove the pump to protect it during the winter. If you are not able to store the fountain itself indoors for the colder months of the year, you should take care to wrap it so it won't suffer any damage from the ice and snow.

Add Serenity to Your Garden With Garden Fountains
By Sarah Martin
A fountain in a garden gives it an ambiance of serenity and elegance, whether the garden is big or small. You will find a wide selection of garden fountains to choose from when you search online. Sitting in your garden or enjoying the view from your patio as you listen to the trickle of water in the large fountain will fill you with a sense of peace. You can become one with nature as the sounds of the water sharpen your sense to the other sounds of nature all around you.
Garden fountains have existed since prehistoric times. The ancient Romans always had a fountain in the courtyard and it is evident that this feature was a part of life in Ancient Egypt from the hieroglyphs that have been found on the walls of ancient tombs. Not only were these areas where the people washed, but they were also decorations for formal gardens. The use of fountains in the garden is still a time-honored tradition in many countries of the Orient, especially in Japan.
If you have a large garden, you may like the large and dramatic garden fountains. Attach the fountain to make a wall fountain or choose a free standing one that rests on its own base. Some of the choices in this area are a Buddha Fountain, one that is reminiscent of Ancient Greece or Rome or one that looks like an antique shelf. The fountains can be made from a variety of materials, such as fiberglass, cast iron, stone, copper, ceramic, concrete and wood.
You do need to provide protection for them during the colder months of winter when they can become damaged from ice and snow build up. This does not mean you have to take them indoors, although this would be a good idea. You can buy a protective covering that you place over the fountain to protect it from the elements of the weather. You should always take the pump out of the fountain during the winter and make sure that all the water has been drained. If the water freezes, this could result in cracks that will mar the look of the fountain.
Garden fountains that contain waterfalls will enhance the look of your garden. Research shows that having a waterfall in your backyard will help to improve your health through the healing benefits it provides for your inner soul. They release negative ions into the air, which helps to purify the air around you and help you to breathe more deeply.
When you look at the garden fountains and choose the one you want to purchase, you should be aware that you must buy the pump and the attachments separately. There are detailed instructions to help you connect the pump and the hoses for the water, but if you prefer you can also have a professional do the work for you. The fountains themselves are easy to install and most of the modern varieties only need one person to accomplish this task.
You can install a fountain in a small pond in your garden and they can be used as the focal centerpiece of the garden. It is a wide decision, though, to install garden fountains as close to the water source as possible. This means you won't have to disrupt too much of the ground in order to install the water cables and pipes that you need.

The primary thing that catches the interest of your guests is your landscape water features such as ponds, fountains or waterfalls. No matter how plain, simple or lush you visualize your landscape, the addition of cascading, gushing or dripping water can only be a landscape improvement. Nowadays, landscape fountains are the trendiest in landscaping designs.
Homeowners' obviously fancy water features in their garden since water soothes, relaxes and calms the mind and body. Fountains made nice looking addition in your landscape design and they often are less expensive to set up as well as easy to maintain. Fountains are intended to add spectacular view to your garden space. They all come in a wide selection of sizes and designs.
Fountains may consist of one, two maybe three tiers, the bottom being the largest and it gets smaller as it goes up. A statue of a child or other design at the top maybe featured for added charm.
When you integrate a fountain in your garden pond or construct a fully self-reliant component, you have appended the aspect of moving water into a stationary landscape. Fountains are both pleasing to the eyes and ears. They can be plain or elaborate and often is the central theme in every garden landscape.

Rising Jet Fountains
The most exaggerated and most magnificent landscape designs are rising jet fountains which are commonly inspired by natural geysers and rock ocean blowholes. It should be adeptly sized to suit the whole space where your fountain should be located. Downward Falling Fountains
Downward falling fountains are prominent by their unattached pattern which features human outline or sculpture with carved bowl exterior. The cascading fountains might have a far superior place in natural world like all streams, rivers, springs and waterfalls. Carved and polished marble ball which rolls on a film of water with bubbles underneath is another fountain element. The ball rotates continuously in a seemingly unfeasible dance and its kinetic movement is unadulterated entertainment.
Various types of fountains confer various sounds of water. You can either decide on a fountain that make up a soft seeping sound or one that makes a gushing sound like that of a waterfall.

Garden Water Fountains - An Easy Way to Beautify Your Yard
By Jackie Chronis
I love working outdoors, whether it is in the yard or garden. From mowing the lawn, to planting new flowers, even weeding the vegetable garden, there is just something appealing about yard work. Enjoying the fresh air, the sounds of birds and just being outside, is something that takes me back to childhood. A family pastime that has been enjoyed from generation to generation, from the time when vegetable gardens were a necessity to survive in my grandparents day, to a beautiful eye-catching rose garden that I enjoy today.
I am always looking for ways to improve both the function and beauty of our yard. Having a fairly large family that loves the outdoors and with what the economy it is today, it needs to be both beautiful and practical. Whether your yard or garden is large or small, there are many ways to achieve both.
Adding a garden water fountain to any design scheme is both an easy and economical way to beautify your yard. There is a calming sensation when you stop and enjoy the sounds of cascading water. Whether you are looking for an attention grabbing focal point or a simple backyard fountain to tuck into a shady corner, there are many varieties to choose from. And not all outdoor fountains are so big and bulky that you need to have a tractor to move them. Now you can find them in lightweight resins, that make them convenient and easy to move from location to location as your garden changes. You don't even need a yard to take advantage of a water feature, some are compact enough and would make a lovely addition to any deck or patio.
The appeal of outdoor fountains can be found everywhere. Whether they are grand fountains found at some of our national monuments, to local businesses, to our own backyard, a water fountain appeals to almost everyone. If we can create a little bit of tranquility to help us relax without spending a lot of money, it would be worth our time and energy to look in to the possibility of adding an outdoor fountain or two. Place one in your garden and one on your front porch to welcome visitors. With the variety of backyard fountains available from elegant and graceful, to sweet and playful, to majestic and noble, there is one that is just right for any personality and garden scheme. Place one in an already established setting, or pick the perfect fountain and design your theme around it. A garden water fountain is an easy way to beautify your yard.

Selecting an Outdoor Water Fountain

An outdoor water fountain is a unique piece of garden art and makes a splendid centerpiece for your lawn or patio! If your patio or lawn needs some sprucing up you might consider adding an outdoor water fountain. A fountain will immediately perk up the look and feel of the space. You will love to relax to the sounds of the gentle trickling of water, which makes your backyard paradise a tranquil escape from your busy day to day schedule.
Outdoor fountains come in many different designs, from those that include a bird bath, cascading waterfalls, ones that shoot water up in the air and don't forget those wall-mounted fountains.
With such a variety of themes to choose from and depending on your style that you are after for your patio or lawn, this can seem like a daunting task. With the different themes ranging from Contemporary, Southwestern, Classical or Oriental fountains are some of your choices available.
A carefully selected outdoor water fountain will make a great addition to your backyard or patio, which will be attractive to your eye and soothing to the senses.
So you will first need to decide where you plan to place the fountain. The fountain's theme, size and color will be determined by the area you are looking to fill. Once you have made this determination you'll significantly reduce the number of choices and make the selection process easier. Outdoor water fountains are made of durable, weather-resistant materials, such as cast resin, mortar casts or brushed copper. This way they can withstand nature's elements. Outdoor water fountains normally require very little set-up. Just plug in and add water and you are ready to go. Another popular alternative are solar fountains. They come with a solar panel attached, which will run the pump. This type of water fountain will need to be placed in direct sunlight. A bonus of having solar powered water fountains is that there are no costs to run as they rely on sunlight for power.
With the addition of an outdoor water fountain to your lawn, garden or patio creates a welcoming, soothing and calming environment, where you can relax from a hard days work. For your garden, an outdoor water fountain transforms it into a calm and tranquil sanctuary where you can spend time from the stresses of your day to day life happenings.
